About Us
Bottega Tifernate has been reproducing ancient and modern paintings since 1995
Bottega Tifernate was founded in 1995 in Umbria, in Città di Castello.
Our name pays tribute to the deep roots of this land: it derives from Tifernum Tiberinum, the ancient Roman name of the city.
Working in this valley means breathing the legacy of the Renaissance every day, moving through the same landscapes that inspired masters such as Piero della Francesca, Raphael and Luca Signorelli.
Our mission goes beyond simple visual reproduction.
Whether recreating the delicate glazes of a 16th-century fresco or the vibrant geometries of a work by Picasso, our goal is to preserve the emotion, fascination and sense of wonder experienced when standing before the original masterpiece.
To achieve this, we combine the sensitivity of the artisan with the scholarly rigor of historical research.
Before each realization, we analyze historical pigments, surface preparation and traditional gesso layers to understand the chemistry and artistry that make a work timeless.
From this approach was born Pictography, our patented technique.
We work exactly like Renaissance workshops: stretching pure linen canvases, preparing wooden panels with natural gesso and glues, and painting with pure pigments, authentic lapis lazuli and hand-applied gold leaf.
Each artwork is created through a fully artisanal process that restores material depth, authenticity and emotion — just as in the great Renaissance workshops.
This balance between respect for history and technical innovation has earned us the trust of some of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions.
We collaborate with the Vatican Museums, Uffizi Galleries, the Louvre and the British Museum.
We have also had the privilege of decorating the private apartments of Pope Francis and reinstalling historical masterpieces in their original locations on behalf of institutions and ministries.
Beyond the museum field, Bottega Tifernate works alongside high-end architects and interior designers, integrating custom frescoes and paintings into exclusive residential and architectural projects.
We also create Altarpieces and sacred artworks on commission for churches and international religious institutions, maintaining a living dialogue between art, architecture and spirituality.
From our extensive experience with major commissions comes Aurea, our line designed in a more intimate and accessible format.
Aurea translates our technical rigor and historical materials into artworks created for museum bookshops, luxury boutiques and private collectors who wish to live daily in contact with a fragment of art history.
We are proudly a workshop, not an industry.
Our work requires time, specialized expertise and a meticulous attention to detail.
For this reason, we carefully select each project to ensure excellence without compromise.
Entrusting us means choosing authenticity, craftsmanship and lasting quality.
We invite you to contact us and share your vision: we will be honored to evaluate it together and place our expertise and craftsmanship at the service of your idea.
