Film & Television Productions
Cinema and Television Productions began in 2016 with the collaboration on the film Raphael. The Prince of Arts produced by Sky Arte, marking the beginning of Bottega Tifernate’s contribution to the world of cinema and international set design.This service is dedicated to the creation of pictorial works and figurative elements for films, TV series, and documentaries, with historical accuracy, material depth, and formal coherence suitable for both the set and the camera. Works are executed using the Pictographic technique on fresco, panel, or canvas, avoiding any printed effect and ensuring authentic texture, light, and depth on screen.
We collaborate with set designers, directors, costume designers, and directors of photography from the earliest stages: analyzing the historical period and iconography, defining the visual concept, creating sketches, color tests, and light samples for the set. The goal is to integrate the artwork into the scenography as a credible narrative element that supports production flow and timing.
Pre-production and Research
We conduct philological research on context, materials, and techniques; prepare moodboards, style sheets, iconographic outlines, and visual aging proposals (patinas, craquelure, abrasions) calibrated to the period and storyline. We provide approved sketches and texture tests for on-camera validation.
Materials, Techniques, and Formats
We use natural pigments, historical binders, and appropriate supports (prepared canvases, panels, lime-based grounds). The Retouch, Picta, and Pura techniques are selected based on camera distance, shot type, and continuity needs. We can produce monumental formats, triptychs, mural cycles, and multiple replicas for set requirements.
Aging and Continuity
We apply patinas, glazes, wear, and deposits to achieve believable aging under the camera, tested under various lighting conditions (tungsten, LED, HMI) and color temperatures. We ensure visual consistency across replicas, stand-ins, and variants for stunts or VFX.
Scheduling, Logistics, and On-Set Work
We plan execution times in line with production schedules; handle packing, transport, and mounting with safe, reversible systems. We provide on-set assistance for touch-ups, maintenance, and last-minute adaptations in coordination with the art and direction departments.
Rights, Clearances, and Documentation
We assist productions in verifying image rights, legitimate iconographic use, and necessary releases. Upon delivery, we provide technical documentation (materials, techniques, finishes) for production continuity, archiving, and communication.
Safety and Preservation
Our works are designed to withstand frequent movement and set conditions; we provide maintenance, cleaning, and storage protocols between shoots. Upon request, we handle post-set restoration or transformation for exhibition use.
