The Context: Beyond the clinic, caring for the soul

In the landscape of modern hospital architecture, there is a growing need to ‘humanise’ healthcare settings. Moving away from the concept of cold, purely functional environments, the management of the Silvestrini Hospital in Perugia, guided in this project by the vision of Dr Mario Amico, decided to invest in the psychological and emotional impact of the spaces. The aim was ambitious and noble: to transform the wards into places of special welcome, where visual beauty could alleviate the anxiety of patients and their families. To realise this vision, the hospital turned to the expertise of Bottega Tifernate.

The Challenge: Creating a visual therapeutic journey

The project required not only artistic effort, but also curatorial and logistical work of the highest standard. It was not simply a matter of ‘hanging pictures’ to fill empty walls, but of conceiving a true visual ecosystem. The challenge was to adapt the art specifically to each medical area: the visual narrative had to align with the emotional intensity of the different wards, offering comfort, distraction, hope or serenity depending on the specific psychological needs of the patients.

The Work of the Bottega

With 50 masterpieces and a thematic artistic direction Over a period of five years of uninterrupted work, La Bottega has supported the healthcare management as a true strategic partner. The team has created and installed 50 works of the highest quality, creating a perfect blend of reproductions of famous historical masterpieces and entirely new works, designed specifically for the facility. Each main department was curated according to a specific pictorial and chromatic theme, transforming the corridors and waiting rooms into veritable themed art galleries, capable of silently engaging with those passing through.

The Result: The healing power of great artisanal art

The inauguration in May 2015 marked the culmination of a project of immense intensity and commitment. For Bottega Tifernate, this project represents a flagship achievement of inestimable ethical and professional value. It has demonstrated the company’s ability to manage large-scale, long-term institutional commissions, but above all it has confirmed a deep-seated belief: great art and master craftsmanship possess a genuine therapeutic power. Having helped to make the healing journey of thousands of people warmer and more human remains one of the greatest achievements ever attained by the Bottega.
