Interior & Sacred Design
Interior & Sacred Design was established in 2007 as a natural extension of the Art Restitutions work, with the aim of creating environments where art, architecture, and light merge into a single aesthetic experience.Bottega Tifernate designs and creates pictorial decorations and artistic installations for sacred spaces and prestigious environments: churches, chapels, hotels, villas, spas, and private residences. Each project is conceived to evoke beauty and harmony through space and light.
Art becomes an integral part of architecture: frescoes, altarpieces, decorative cycles, as well as panels, ceilings, and integrated works. Every piece is executed with natural pigments and noble materials, preserving the authenticity of Renaissance craftsmanship.
Among the most representative projects are the works created for His Holiness Pope Francis, such as The Calling of Saint Matthew after Caravaggio for Casa Santa Marta and the White Crucifixion after Chagall for his private residence — examples of how a work of art can transform a space into a place of contemplation and harmony.
The goal is to create a genuine sensory experience, crafting environments that stir emotion and make painting a living part of architecture and memory. Bottega Tifernate manages every stage: artistic design, material selection, pictorial execution, and final installation.
For Sacred Spaces
We design and create chapels, altars, apse walls, narrative cycles, furnishings, and integrated decorative systems. Each iconographic subject is developed in collaboration with the client and liturgical advisors, respecting both tradition and contemporary pastoral needs. Surfaces are prepared with lime plasters or suitable wooden supports and painted with natural pigments for a deep and lasting color rendering.
For Museums and Institutions
We work on foyers, exhibition halls, thematic routes, and representative spaces with site-specific works that enhance architecture and curatorial storytelling. Design takes into account lighting, viewing distances, and preventive conservation, ensuring visual coherence, accessibility, and impact.
For Private Residences
We create bespoke frescoes and large canvases for domestic or representative environments. Compositions, whether classical or contemporary, are designed to integrate with furniture, materials, and color palettes, giving life to spaces where the artwork is not an addition but the origin of the atmosphere.
Materials and Techniques
We use only natural pigments, historical binders, and selected supports. The techniques — Retouch, Picta, and Pura — vary according to the degree of manual work and intended use, ensuring consistency in color, texture, and light. When necessary, we produce samples and color tests on site to fine-tune the final result.
Installation and Coordination
We handle logistics, mounting, and protection, coordinating with designers, project managers, and construction teams. We provide guidance on lighting, maintenance, and proper conservation of painted surfaces, ensuring durability and stability over time.
