Vatican Projects
Artistic and Institutional Collaborations with the Holy SeeThe collaboration between Bottega Tifernate and the Holy See began in 2001, with the supply of pictographic works for the Vatican Museums’ bookshops.
In 2008, Bottega Tifernate created the Porziuncola Nuova in San Francisco, a project commissioned by Cardinal Joseph Levada and supported by Pope Benedict XVI: a faithful reconstruction of the Porziuncola in Santa Maria degli Angeli, recognized as a work of high devotional value and granted Plenary Indulgence.
From 2017 onwards, the collaboration with the Vatican intensified, leading to a series of works for major sacred and institutional spaces: the Crucifix of Guardiagrele for the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Salus Populi Romani permanently installed in the Madonna’s Room of the Apostolic Palace (2024), and the Jubilee Cross 2025 for Vatican City.
Each creation is executed according to the principles of Pura Pictography, using natural pigments and noble materials, in full respect of the figurative and liturgical tradition.
The aim is to reveal beauty as an expression of faith, producing works that become a living part of the Holy See’s spiritual and artistic heritage.
